We raised a whopping £358!
What an afternoon! and what a performance! from the moment the music started up for the opening dance routine you could feel a tingle of anticipation in the air. A large audience had assembled, no doubt intrigued by our wonderful banner which heralded the performance of the fantastic new We Are One! ChildLine single for 2009. Only half an hour previously we had been running around in turmoil as the generator had failed under the load of the sound system! Well done the White Hart for powering us up! - this has to be the friendliest bar in Britain! Then the dancers started their routine - and it was electrifying! Their teacher, Mrs Garland was following every step - and so were the crowd. What an ovation at the end too, I know everyone was standing but they would have been anyway! Next up was the choir, 30 strong and swathed in green ChildLine tee shirts, they had a very moving impact. This is no ordinary school choir, Mrs Rewse, the schools Choirmaster,  has these guys perorming at just about every major event within a 50 mile radius and their reputation continues to grow! They performed some of their most moving numbers here, and you really could see the impact on the faces of the audience as their emotions were pulled first one way with 'slipping through your fingers', and then the other with their rendition of the uplifting 'Rythmn of Life'. And then... just as you thought it could not get any better, up stepped the We Are One! group to perform their song. There was a lot of pressure on these girls - they were after all following such a strong line up, but as soon as the music started the crowd began to clap in time. Now there was a satisfying mix of both wonderment and disbelief in the air as the girls performed their act - it was brilliant! The girls amplified voices reached out across the square perfectly, and their obvious confidence and enjoyment at performing the song was infectious! Mr Payne had the biggest smile of the day! As a performer, you know you've nailed it when the audience demand an encore! Well done Wyke Regis Junior School - and well done We Are One! you all really did yourselves proud!!!

Rebecca - We were on the radio!
I was really, really excited as we sat in the car on the way to the Wessex fm radio station. 'Soon', I thought, 'everyone who had a radio could be listening to our We Are One! record live!!'. When we got there I was surprised at how small the actual studio was. I remember thinking 'we will have to squash up to all get in there!' Mr Payne, who is very tall, nearly hit his head on a piece of the ceiling. The interview went really well. Jason was really nice and he kept saying how impresed he was by our singing! We sang our song in the studio with only Mr Payne's guitar but it sounded really good still. While we on the radio we were told some really fantastic news about the cast of Hairspray getting to hear our song and being behind us, and that we may even be going up to the Shaftesbury Theatre, London to do our record launch with them!!! When we were going Maria gave us all a mug and a car sticker to keep! She was really nice too. I couldn't believe that we had just been on the radio - what an amazing day!

Rob Goodwin - Champagne Film & TV

Occasionally it’s good to be able to do something for someone just because you can.

Richard Shoulders, the co producer of this fantastic charity explosion 'We Are One' called me and said ‘"we’re doing a song for ChildLine and we were hoping you may be able to offer some support with the production of a video to enhance the music".  “I’m sure we can help”,  I replied, "let’s book in a pre-production meeting after I have completed my present production, then, allow a day or so to discuss the story board, a couple of days to shoot the outside broadcast material, a further day inside for cut-aways, another day to get the whole lot rushed onto the hard drive, half a day to log the footage and sort the audio, then finally three or four days to edit - is that OK?" ..

There was a long silence... Richard then said quietly… “ we do have a slot for a thirty minute meeting tomorrow, half a days shooting booked in at Nothe Fort over the half-term - and we really do need the finished video by a week on Friday!

The next few days flew by – and then...

There I found myself perched on the edge of a very high external wall of the fort, filming twenty brightly dressed young people who were trying to make a pattern of a telephone by lying on the ground to fit in with the theme of ChildLine. However, there was so much fidgeting going on down there, with pink and green florescent clothed children jumping up and down that I eventually rang Richard, who was working as one of the organisers” and said “can you ask the children to PLEASE KEEP STILL so that I can get this really important shot done!"  "I will ask them" Richard replied "but you will have to be quick with the shot as they have managed to sit directly on a massive ants nest!" ............................... we re-located!

We did still make it!  and we had a great time, and hopefully we have done ourselves proud in the process!  We would love to hear your view on the video at info@we-are-one.co.uk  - Let’s hope it SOARS!

Maddie - our song rocks!

We’ve just heard the record for the very first time and it rocks!  I sound really different.  It’s Amazing! Even if you don’t download the record, please still donate money to ChildLine, because that’s what it’s all about.  It’s great to think that any money we raise goes towards helping children have better lives.  We really need your help.

Rebecca - you must download our song!

The whole thing is like a dream.  While I was recording, Barry told me to shout it to the person on the other side of the road and it made me feel really excited!  Download the track because you won’t believe your ears.  It’s not right if children aren’t happy.  Children can’t just run away because that just makes the situation worse.  We need money so that there can be someone on the other end of the phone for the children in distress.  Remember: life isn’t as simple as it seems.
